Split pea soup

Written By: AmazinglyWonderful - Jul• 18•11

I made a batch of split pea soup on Sunday for a dinner later in the week. It tastes SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO good, it was hard to put it away for later. And its cheap! Less than 6 bucks for the whole pot! I see weekend soup making in my future!

This past weekend marks a first in Jason and I’s relationship. We didn’t go out to eat at all, all meals were had a home! I made ALL our meals! Woot.

It was lets clear out the freezer and pantry weekend, if I bought it this weekend, I’ll put an astrik (sp?) next to it.

Sat Lunch – Chicken fajitas
fajita sauce
rice and beans*

Sat Dinner – flank steak
flank steak
orange juice (marinade)*
teryaki sauce (marinade)*
garlic (marinade)*

Sun Lunch – Sausage, peppers and onions
Italian sausage
tomato sauce
hoagie rolls*

Sun Dinner – sirloin stirfry and strawberry short cake
sirloin steak
coconut pineapple rice*

(Our beef wasn’t this saucy)

As you can guess i just bought a bag of onions and a bag of peppers and used it all weekend. I have just one onion and one pepper left! I’ve also got strawberries and coolwhip left, so I’ll have to come up with something there.

*As always, pics are from the interwebs

We like to party, we like, we like to party

Saturday was my 27th birthday. Woot! Jason took me to Seawatch on the Ocean for dinner.

We each had the early bird. NE Clam chowder, 1.25lb lobster, and key lime pie for dessert. So good!

On Sunday, we had the Heithoff family dinner party. We went to the Rustic Inn.

I had to try the “World Famous” garlic crabs, so Jason and I split that and an app of oysters.

My birthday cake was a delicious Publix creation – the Strawberry Peach Sensation. Our Rustic Inn meal was at 3:00, so of course my body thought it had to conk out at 8:00. Its now 3 am and I am wide awake.

SOOOOO – health wise. The seafood was good for me, except for the butter. THe cake had lots of fruit, but its still cake. Hmmm…

Last night’s dinner

After the gym, Jason and I went to one of our favorite local restaurants, CR Chicks. I had gazpacho and a chicken drumstick. The soup was sooooo good! It tasted fresh and was refreshing. Plus I’m hoping the fact that it’s a bunch of raw veggies makes it healthy.

Jason had their delicious meatloaf with smashed potatoes and brown rice and beans.

P.S. I’m up exactly two pounds. Whah :(

working it with Kelly

Tonight I worked out with fellow social work student Kelly. She guided our workout tonight. I did 10 minutes on the recumbent bike, then some kind of arm machine. Then I did a leg machine. Then we did 1000 meters of rowing. Then 10 minutes on the elliptical and to finish up, 10 minutes on the treadmill.

This is a pic of the rowing machine. I love that it has water in it!

And now I feel bad about it

Jason and I went to Publix for lunch. He had a sub and I had the chicken tender dinner. It comes with three tenders ( I had mine buffalo style) 2 sides and a roll. The only side they had was mac and cheese, so I had two of it. I ate almost all the chicken, and a little over half of the mac and cheese. I didn’t touch the roll.

I was so excited about my lunch, but as soon as I was done, I felt bad about my lunch choice. Why do I willfully make such bad food choices?

Thanks to the powers of the interwebs, I can show you an approximation of my meal.

I wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy

So today my body definitely feels like it worked out yesterday, but I’m not dying. My legs feels invigorated, my arms a little tired, and the balls of my feet a little sore.

I just wish I could get rid of this runny nose!

P.S. – I think I’m going to re-listen to a part of the book tonight, and no that isn’t just to give my body a chance to catch up. Listening is HARD!

I’m on my way!

After work, I changed and went over to the gym. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and 60 minutes on the treadmill. I had just moved over to the recumbent bike when I realized I probably over doing it. Sure I felt like I could do it now, but how would I feel tomorrow? So I stopped. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow, tomorrow.

Let the Games begin!

I go to the gym for the first time tonight. I really hope the books keep me motivated to keep going. I haven’t weighed myself yet, so below is an estimate.

I am T-370 days for a cruise, and I would LOVE to be fit by then!

And for everyone’s edification – book 2 is 1867 minutes, book 3 is 2854 minutes, and book 4 is 2192 minutes
